OLBD Appoints New Compliance Manager 

The Office of Local Business Development (OLBD) is pleased to announce that Shelley M. Merchant has been named Compliance Manager. Ms. Merchant will oversee new service development as well as monitor LSDBE compliance for city agencies and projects.

Ms. Merchant comes to OLBD from the Washington Convention Center, where she was the Special Assistant to the General Manager/CEO and LSDBE Compliance Officer. Ms. Merchant was instrumental in the success the Washington Convention Center's contribution to the LSDBE community.

Ms. Merchant feels it is a privilege to represent the District government in such an important capacity. "I can't think of a municipality that makes more of an actual difference in the local community," she said. "I hope I can help [the District] maintain that tradition."
